Rajkummar Rao opens up on glorification of characters in Animal and Devdas! Fri August 23rd, 2024

Rajkummar Rao is now enjoying the enormous success of his last film, Stree 2. Meanwhile, in a recent interview, he supported Shah Rukh Khan's Devdas and admitted to enjoying Ranbir Kapoor's performance in Animal. The actor spoke extensively about his thoughts on both flicks.

In a recent media interview, Rajkummar Rao was asked about the glorifying of evil characters in movies. To answer his query, the host used instances from Shah Rukh Khan's Devdas and Ranbir Kapoor's most recent release, Animal.

In his answer, the Stree 2 actor stated that if someone is attempting to be Devdas while under the influence of the film, the problem lies inside themselves. He remarked that a filmmaker is telling the tale of a guy like him, but not urging everyone to be like him. Raj explained that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film was based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's work.

He went on to say that other popular and profitable films based on the novel had been made in Bengal as well. "It’s a character story. He is not asking you to be like him. He dies in the end. He is telling you if you do this, you gonna die sooner. He is not telling you ke iske saath ye sab kuch ho raha hai fir bhi ye to jee raha hai paisa hi paisa hai uske paas (He is not telling you that he is going through all this, yet he has a lot of money)".

Raj tells out that Devdas' condition worsens because he is on the road and does not have a house or family. According to him, the director told a love tale and showed its consequences.

He also discussed Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorship and revealed, "I loved Animal, the experience of watching Animal. I enjoyed it." The actor admitted that he had difficulties with various sequences in the film, but he still enjoyed seeing it.

"I loved Ranbir Kapoor in it and his performance in the film was mind-blowing," He exclaimed, pouring adulation on the actor. Raj revealed that a senior critic responding to the negative discussion stated that the filmmaker had titled it Animal. The film was not titled 'Idol Man' or 'Aadarsh Purush', yet the character in it behaves accordingly. Addressing the criticism, he added that, as the film's title implies, the filmmaker has already stated that people will be "coming to watch an animal" in theatres.
