"Usi aankho mein dekho... ankho mein...Pyar ke bhooki hai, so pyaar se dekho." Remember when Rajkummar Rao's character Vicky was urged to look into the eyes of a witch in the 2018 film Stree? The amusing climax scenario involved Shah Rukh Khan. Those who have seen the original know how the Stree actor copied SRK while looking into her eyes. Rajkummar Rao recently confessed that he improvised the classic sequence in Stree by referencing Shah Rukh's reactions.
In a media interview, Rajkummar Rao revealed that anytime he collaborates with writers, he asks them to create a "playground" for him. Rao used the classic climactic scene of Stree as an example, claiming that it was a "playground" for him to have Stree standing in front of him. While his character is afraid of the witch's presence, he is instructed to look into her eyes with affection.
Rajkummar Rao, a Shah Rukh Khan devotee, went on to say that when it comes to love, guys in our country think of King Khan. Rao revealed that he "improvised" the sequence while showing the superstar's facial expression. The Stree 2 actor went on to say that Vicky is portrayed as a small-town guy who grew up watching cinema.
"Toh wahan pe maine improvise kiya (I improvised it there) which people cracked up laughing. In theaters, people were going nuts over that scene. It's an improvised scene," Rao revealed.
Talking about Amar Kaushik, Rajkummar Rao praised him saying that the director gives freedom to actors to experiment on set despite what is written in the script. Rao added that Kaushik, however, discusses it whenever the scene goes wrong.
During the promotion of Stree 2, Rajkummar Rao praised Shah Rukh Khan, calling him the "epitome of romance". Rao has stated that he is a "die-hard romantic at heart" and would like to star in love films.
