Karan Johar Zoya Akhtar talk about high food prices at theaters!
Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar are two accomplished directors who have collaborated with several well-known performers in the industry. As a result, they are qualified to remark on all aspects of filmmaking, including production, star cost, and more. They recently discussed how the average moviegoer is burdened by the high food costs at cinema halls, which prevents them from visiting cinemas on a frequent basis. According to KJo, a family of four must spend approximately Rs 10,000 on the day they go to the movies.

In a media interview, Karan Johar emphasized that increased food prices in theaters are discouraging audiences from seeing movies on the big screen. Speaking on the subject, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director noted a survey in which 90 out of 100 households claimed they would only watch two films in theaters each year, indicating an income bracket that makes up a sizable portion of a filmmaker's audience.

Karan added that family members dislike going to movie theaters because they feel awful denying their children's requests for popcorn or snacks. As a result, people would rather go to a restaurant where they only have to pay for the meal, not the movie ticket.

He went on to say that parents told him that their children would point to caramel popcorn but couldn't afford it. He shared his opinion on what could be the likely explanation for it, “Because the average cost for a family of four can be Rs 10,000. And maybe those Rs 10,000 are not in their economic planning at all.”

The director-producer also stated that people cannot afford to watch movies and will only come out during Diwali or when they hear about a major hit like Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2.

Zoya Akhtar also said that many cannot afford to go to the movies, even if they want to. She went on to say that if moviegoers go to theaters twice a year, they will be able to choose which films to see. “Even if I want to go see Laapataa Ladies, maybe I can’t afford to,” She informed the publication. Karan is now co-producing Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
