Joaquin Phoenix made a significant impression on the public in the 2000s Gladiator, a classic directed by Russell Crowe. But in the middle of filming, the Joker actor had nearly withdrawn from the production. Recently, director Ridley Scott recalled the precise situation and the actor's response from The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
As per to Alien: Covenant's director, who recently spoke with a daily, “He was in his prince’s outfit saying, ‘I can’t do it.’ I said, ‘What?'”
At the same time, the director of Kingdom of Heaven, Russell Crowe, called Phoenix's actions "terribly unprofessional."
When asked how he persuaded Phoenix to return for the film, Scott continued by saying that he could be the older brother or father of his crew, referring to himself as more of a close friend of the Walk the Line star.
The director of Black Hawk Down added that Gladiator served as both Joaquin Phoenix's and his "baptism of fire."
This topic upsurged recently as Phoenix reportedly had left the set of Todd Haynes’ gay romantic entry back in the month of July. This new move by the You Were Never Really Here actor was made when the filming was about to begin in Guadalajara, Mexico.
While Danny Ramirez was all excited to act alongside a great star, in the aforementioned project of Haynes, the production on the film is nearly dead, as reported by a daily.
Recently, Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix both came back for Napolean, which was released last year. The We Own the Night actor was seen as the great Napoleon Bonaparte in the above-stated film alongside Vanessa Kirby.
In the meantime, the star made a spectacular return to the big screen as one of his favorite and most adored roles, the Joker, in Joker: Folie à Deux. Lady Gaga, another exceptionally gifted performer who also happens to have an angelic voice, joined him.
With his upcoming film and the Gladiator sequel, Ridley Scott will also be returning. Paul Mescal, who plays Lucius in the film, is one of the many great actors in it. Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Fred Hechinger will be joining him. Lucilla is Connie Nelson, reclaiming her role as Lucius's mother.
