Stree 2 actor Rajkummar Rao opens up on 'tough' survival journey in Mumbai! Mon August 26th, 2024

Rajkummar Rao is currently experiencing huge success with his recently released horror-comedy Stree 2. While the actor is now one of Bollywood's most sought-after performers, he has spoken openly about his hardships to get there. Recently, the 39-year-old revealed that he came from nowhere and that survival was really difficult during his early years.

Rao expressed appreciation and believes that God has been very nice to him during his journey. “I have got a lot of love from the audience and they have accepted me for who I am. I have come from nowhere,” Rajkummar Rao stated in a media interview that he grew up in poverty and did not have access to money.

He further revealed, “A lot of messages I get say that it feels like a personal victory, which is overwhelming.” The Shahid actor further revealed that his journey was 'difficult'. Rajkummar said that his problems began during his theatre days in Delhi. When he didn't have money for transportation, he would pedal 70 kilometers up and down.

Rajkummar Rao revealed, “Then, coming to Mumbai after FTII – it is an expensive city. So, just to survive here was a task. I didn’t know anyone, where to start, who to meet. I used to figure my way out.” Rao describes the heartfelt support of his family members, particularly his mother, during a time when everything was going wrong. Late Kamlesh Yadav ensured that her son was encouraged to complete his work with honesty and sincerity.

The Srikanth actor claims that his mother knew he was passionate and believes that her blessings, as well as God's, guided his trip in the correct route, and that he was fortunate to meet the right people. Rajkummar Rao made his film debut in 2010 with Dibakar Banerjee's Love Sex Aur Dhokha, but his financial situation did not improve immediately.

Despite the fact that money remained his primary concern for a long time after he began working, it never became a motivator for him. Rao claims he continues to prioritize good work over celebrity and money.
