Veteran actress Sridevi, with whom Janhvi Kapoor was very close, passed suddenly in 2018, shocking her family and admirers. The actress had the greatest loss of her life just months before making her Bollywood debut.
Janhvi has now shared her mental state during that extremely sensitive time in her life.
Janhvi Kapoor remarked in a podcast interview that she first had trouble with self-esteem since she didn't know how to evaluate her own worth. She claimed that she was looking for "a lot of validation" from inappropriate sources.
The actress also discussed her struggles with body image, her insecurities about her command of the Hindi language, and her belief that her upbringing has deprived her of most human experiences.
Speaking of one who seeks out all forms of advancement, be it intellectual, creative, or personal, she recalls being in 'a totally different emotional state'. Janhvi expressed that her insecurity was overwhelming her.
She revealed further, saying that it was ingrained in her from a "very young age." She outlined her argument, "I mean when people have such a heavy perception of you and your privilege, and you are kind of made to feel apologetic about the space that you take up in the industry. In school, every time you make friends or do well, you get any sort of opportunity; it is always pinned to where you come from. Then you kind of don’t know what value to give yourself individually.”
