Cameron Diaz was the biggest darling in America from the 1990s to the 2010s. She took a long hiatus from acting after that. Her last film, Annie, a musical, was released in 2014, and she costarred with Jamie Foxx in it. The wait for Diaz's onscreen return is almost over, though, as Netflix has confirmed her cinematic return, Back in Action.
Back in Action, starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, will appear on the platform on November 15, 2024. Fox and Netflix have forged a solid alliance over the last few years. Fox starred in numerous movies on the streaming service, such as Dave Franco and Natasha Liu Bordizzo's vampire horror thriller Day Shift.
Seth Gordon's film Back in Action revolves around Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx), a couple who gave their lives as CIA operatives and are now lured back into the field after their cover is broken. In addition to Diaz and Foxx, the cast also features McKenna Roberts, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Kyle Chandler, and Rylan Jackson.
Following her decision to leave Hollywood in 2014 in order to spend more time with her family, Diaz subsequently declared that, persuaded by Foxx, she would be returning to the big screen in 2022 with Back in Action. Filming took place between December 2022 and April of the previous year. However, Foxx's alleged diva behavior on the set, which Diaz categorically denied, disrupted principal photography.
Back in Action had to use body doubles for the remaining scenes starring Foxx because of a serious and unexpected health scare that the actor suffered in April of last year. Foxx has fully healed since then.

Foxx most recently starred in a big-screen comedy, Not Another Church Movie, which was a parody of Tyler Perry's movies. Diaz gained popularity from her roles in classic films like Being John Malkovich, Charlie's Angels, There's Something About Mary, and the Shrek series. Alongside this, she is filming Outcome, a black comedy film directed and produced by Jonah Hill and starring Keanu Reeves.
