Amy Schumer recently said that she was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome as a result of comments made about her appearance online. The comic discussed the encounter with Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Her face's "puffiness" was ridiculed by trolls, who referred to it as "moon face." Schumer acknowledged that she originally disregarded the comments but started to take notice when online medical experts also left comments.
She disclosed, “Doctors were chiming in, in the comments, and they were, like, ‘No, no … something’s really up. Your face looks so crazy.’”
When the body overproduces cortisol, which is frequently brought on by certain drugs, Cushing syndrome develops. Schumer revealed that she initially rejected the notion but then recognized the link.
“Wait, I have been getting steroid injections for my scars,” she told. She was diagnosed as a result of these injections following her 2019 cesarean section and 2022 liposuction. These injections can mimic the effects of cortisol, resulting in symptoms including puffiness in the face, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The Trainwreck actress revealed that Cushing syndrome has an impact on her confidence when promoting her Netflix comedy Kinda Pregnant. “I was feeling really down on myself before I started filming this movie,” Schumer admitted.
