Hansal Mehta to review Kareena Kapoor's performance in The Buckingham Murders! Tue October 01st, 2024

Hansal Mehta and Kareena Kapoor worked together on the mystery-thriller The Buckingham Murders. The film's September release commemorated the actress's 25 years in the business. Mehta feels that Bebo's performance in the investigative thriller is her greatest to date, despite the fact that the actress has delivered a number of excellent performances over the years. She feels that Bebo is still "vastly underutilized."

Hansal Mehta responded to the praise Kareena Kapoor has been receiving for The Buckingham Murders in a recent media conference, saying that it is only the beginning. He asserts that the actress's talent has not yet been fully realized and is still hidden from public view.

He revealed, “I’ve always felt that Kareena is a vastly underutilized actor. She’s a big star, but as an actor, I feel there’s a lot more. There’s a huge reservoir that the world is yet to see. I feel this is the beginning and yes, when people say it’s a career-best performance — without sounding too vain — I also believe so.”

The National-Award-winning director further continued by recalling that he heard the story back in 2018 while he was shooting for Chhalaang and signed the actress in 2019. The co-writer of Chhalaang, Aseem Arrora, narrated the idea and then to Ektaa Kapoor.

The director was signed by the legendary producer for it, and later in 2020, Ekta set up a Zoom conversation between Bebo and him during the epidemic. “Kareena had read a 10-15 page treatment of the film and had already decided to do it,” Mehta revealed.
