Anil Kapoor recently credited Amitabh Bachchan for being the first Bollywood actor to defend personality rights in the industry during a conversation with a media source. Throughout the conversation, Anil also stressed his acting rights. He revealed, “You have to protect the bodywork, the kind of person you have, your family and yourself. I didn't take the lead. I think it was Amitabh Bachchan who took the lead in this. I took a step further.”
He then mentioned that there's a lot of journey ahead, and he will continue to give his best while advocating for his rights as a human being, actor, individual, citizen of India, and a global resident.
The great actor Anil Kapoor first gained recognition in the Indian cinema business in 1983 when he played the lead in the film Woh Saat Din. After over ten years of supporting roles, this happened. In his over 40-year career, he has appeared in more than 100 motion pictures. The actor had previously filed a lawsuit to protect his personal rights, which included things like his name, voice, signature, speech, and appearance. Anil Kapoor acknowledged Amitabh Bachchan as the first Bollywood star to defend his personality rights on New Year's Day.
In response to a case brought by the actor, Justice Prathiba M Singh issued a provisional ban against a number of websites and platforms. The court acted in the absence of the opposing party after the case claimed that his personality and fame rights had been improperly used for commercial gain.
The Delhi High Court issued an order prohibiting any misuse of the actor's qualities subsequent to his legal action. The actor explained his motivation for bringing the complaint, saying that he was compelled to do so by multiple incidents of misappropriating his personal characteristics.
Declaring that he had no intention of limiting anyone's right to free speech or applying sanctions, he went on to say, “My personality is my life's work and I've worked hard to build it. With this lawsuit, I'm seeking protection of my personality rights to prevent its misuse in any way, particularly in the current scenario with rapid changes in technology and tools like artificial intelligence that are easily misused to the detriment of the owners of such rights.”
