Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Book Shatters Sales Records!
Thu December 05th, 2024
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour book sold 814,000 copies on Friday and Saturday, setting a new record for its first weekend of sales, even though it was only available at Target. The data originates from Circana BookScan, which is considered to be one of the most accurate indicators of weekly sales of physical books.
Since BookScan started keeping track of sales in 2001, Swift's book has sold the second most copies in a single week. Barack Obama's book A Promised Land is the only non-fiction work published before the pop star's debut.
In its first week of release in 2020, the former US president's book sold 816,000 copies, according to the Associated Press. Obama's book benefited from a lengthier tracking period following its Tuesday release on November 17, 2020, in contrast to Swift's book, which was tracked for just two days before BookScan concluded its weekly numbers. It was also offered by a number of stores.
Representatives from Target and Swift are anticipated to hold off on releasing their own numbers until after a whole seven days of sales have taken place.
