Sarah Michelle Gellar Shares Encouraging News About the Buffy Reboot! Fri February 07th, 2025

Sarah Michelle Geller's wholesome remark regarding relaunch rumors may have just brightened everyone's day for Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans. The actress posted a picture of the same thing on Instagram along with a long comment.

The actress shared this post soon after it was reported that the aforementioned project was getting close to a pilot order at Hulu. Regarding the possible show and her role in it, the I Know What You Did Last Summer star provided an update.

In the post, Gellar revealed, “So... you might have heard some news this week, but I realize you haven’t heard from me.” She said that three years ago, she received a call from her mentor and friend Gail Berman, who asked her to meet with Chloe Zhao, the director of Nomadland, to discuss "possible 'buffy' revival."

Now, the Cruel Intentions actress said she was "blown away" that Zhao knew who she was. She didn't see how the show would return, even after that. She remembered that Berman's voice seemed "different" this time. The main reason Gellar consented to a "twenty-minute" coffee date was to meet the director.

According to the actress, they talked about how much the journey meant to them and how their conversation evolved into a "four-hour adventure" during which they laughed and cried.

The actress claimed that despite not "agreeing to anything at that meeting," she surprised herself by agreeing to carry on their conversation. These conversations continued throughout the ensuing years, and they eventually included Nora and Lilla Zuckerman in their group until they finally settled "on an idea," Gellar revealed.

The actress revealed that although she was always aware of her fans' "desire to revisit 'buffy,'" she was unable to fulfil their request until she was "certain" that they would understand.

She further wrote, “This has been a long process, and it’s not over yet. I promise you; we will only make this show if we know we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the path there.”
