The actor James Van Der Beek, who starred in Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill, told to a tabloid that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer. "I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” the actor said to a tabloid. “There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good," he further revealed.
According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer starts in the colon or rectum and spreads to the intestines. Despite his diagnosis, James Van Der Beek kept working. He most recently had an appearance in a Walker episode and will star in the November 29 premiere of Sidelined: The QB and Me, a Tubi original movie.
Along with his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, and their six children, Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, and Jeremiah, the actor has also been putting his family first. The gang traveled to Egypt in June, and they posted a ton of photos from their vacation to Instagram.
"#Egypt… With all my vocabulary, 'Wow' is what fell out of my mouth most of the time. We were gifted a magical experience, one I’m still processing - and might be for the rest of my life," he penned in the caption.
He added that his pals became like brothers to him and that his children were his rock stars. "I feel rejuvenated despite all the travel, time zone changes, and early-morning alarms," he continued. The actor will make an appearance on The Real Full Monty in December, a special program in which male celebrities strip off to promote testing and research for colon, prostate, and testicular cancer.
