With the romance drama Refugee, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Abhishek Bachchan made their screen debuts together. The J.P. Dutta-directed film altered the course of both performers' careers and was the fifth highest-grossing movie of 2000. Many people are unaware, nevertheless, that Kareena expressed no desire to film love sequences with Abhishek.
Kareena Kapoor was once shown a video message that Abhishek had sent her while she was a guest on Simi Grewal's chat program. The majority of it was applauded by Jr Bachchan, but he also disclosed one item for which he would never be able to forgive Bebo. He revealed, “I will never forgive you for ruining me in that scene because I remember the first thing you ever said to me was that AB, this is our first romantic scene together, and how can I fall in love with you? You're like my brother."
Abhishek Bachchan was alluding to the scene at the Dargah where Abhishek's character is about to depart and Kareena's character asks him to remain back. But Bebo went into depth about what had happened and reiterated that she thought of him as a brother. The actress continued by telling Dutta, the filmmaker, “JP uncle, how can I do those scenes when I consider him to be my brother?”
Before breaking up with Abhishek Bachchan after a few years of dating, Bebo's sister Karisma Kapoor and the actor were fairly friendly for a long time.
In an interview with a former journalist, Kareena revealed, “I have always maintained that Abhishek is the first actor with whom I gave my first shot. To me, he holds a very special place in my heart that no actor and no person can ever take. When I look at him, I look at him with pride, joy, and with happiness. Its sad things went sour.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan has clarified that if Abhishek doesn’t want to do a film with her now, she will also keep it that way as she understands that the comfort level between them will not be the same. “I think people should respect that,” Kapoor said. Besides Refugee, Kareena and Abhishek worked in just one more film titled Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003).
