Sriram Raghavan opens up on Merry Christmas sequel!

On January 12, Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas hit theaters. The mystery thriller film, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, is getting positive reviews from viewers. The director revealed his intentions to create a sequel to the movie in a recent interview.
Merry Christmas, a mystery thriller directed by Sriram Raghavan, marks the first collaboration between Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. In the midst of all the positive feedback the feature film is getting, the filmmaker revealed his ideas for a sequel. While talking to a daily, the filmmaker told, “No, I planned this as a small movie and let it be there only. I think of what will happen but will it be dramatically interesting? Is it worth showing or is it best to be left with the feeling that it’s a Christmas special and what you feel is more important and that is something that needs to stay.”
During an interaction, Sriram Raghavan talked about the work ethics of his actors Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. Speaking about the Tiger 3 star, he revealed that Katrina is an extremely hardworking actor. “She is meticulous and will chew your brain talking about the hows and whys of the scene,” he said adding that Vijay, on the other hand, is the opposite.
Raghavan claims that Vijay Sethupathi would offer other ways for his character to speak or respond, and that he would be open to receiving such recommendations. He also said that while Katrina arrived on site ready for what had already been planned, she didn't appreciate it at first when Vijay added additional components. However, as they proceeded, they found a compromise, and a miraculous understanding emerged between them.
Speaking more about Katrina Kaif, he said that her abilities go beyond just being glitzy and dancing to upbeat music. He therefore did not shoot with too many cuts, preferring to have her act fluidly in order to highlight her talent. “We didn't want the performance to be created in the editing room. You will surely discover a new side of Katrina in the film,” he had revealed.
