Farhan Akhtar reviews Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal!

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Animal was released in 2023. While it has been more than six months after its debut, the buzz surrounding Vanga's directorial continues. Animal drew mixed reactions from the audience, with some underlining how Ranbir Kapoor's film encourages toxic masculinity and misogyny. Farhan Akhtar is the third star to talk about the film, following Mahesh Bhatt and Arshad Warsi. Farhan believes that Animal did not "work" for him on a personal level, and that Ranbir's character, Ranvijay Singh, is "problematic".
In a media interview, Farhan Akhtar was asked to comment on Ranbir Kapoor's film Animal. Farhan stated that, while he like Ranbir's performance, background score, and Vanga's passion to directing the 2023 film, the actor-filmmaker would not suggest it.
Farhan revealed, "The film didn't do much for me. Is it something that I would recommend somebody to watch, I guess not." When asked if he had the opportunity to produce Animal, he responded, "No, I won't. it doesn't resonate with me. For me, I feel that the character is problematic."
However, the actor-filmmaker argued that it is not appropriate to instruct other directors on the do's and don'ts of filmmaking. He also mentioned that everyone has their own journey. The director of Dil Chahta Hai stated that he dislikes such practices and believes there is no remedy.
The Don 3 director went on to say that Animal did not work for him "personally," but that Sandeep Reddy Vanga's support for the film is "commendable." While admiring his dedication, Farhan assumed that the Animal director must have encountered exchanges in which people did not react positively to the tale. He stated that Vanga would have continued to desire to direct the 2023 film.
Farhan most recently produced Kunal Kemmu's Madgaon Express and is currently working on Agni, Yudhra, and Ground Zero. He also directs Don 3, which stars Ranveer Singh.
